Wells Fargo names first-ever chief sustainability officer
Wells Fargo has tapped Robyn Luhning, its head of environmental and social risk management, as the bank's first-ever chief sustainability officer.
In her new role Luhning leads the banks climate plans and oversees its sustainable financing institute, which includes environmental philanthropy and advocacy efforts, the company said Monday. She also oversees Wells Fargos environmental, social and governance disclosures.
Sustainability and addressing climate change are business imperatives at Wells Fargo and require a dedicated, elevated focus, Bill Daley, the companys vice chairman of public affairs, said in a press release.

As financing for the fossil-fuel industry has come under increased scrutiny in Washington and among shareholders, some large banks have been adding chief sustainability officers.
